Living Cultures farm is a family endeavor here in Alfred Station, NY. Our love for the land and our community fuels our farm. We never use synthetic fertilizers, herbicides, or pesticides. We strive to improve the quality of our soil with natural amendments, compost, and lots of mulch.
We grow Shiitake mushrooms on logs along with Lion's Mane and Oyster Mushrooms. We have fresh Shiitake mushrooms available from May to October. We have Sun-dried Shiitakes that are available year-round. Lions Mane and Oysters are limited in availability because they fruit naturally throughout the growing season.
We use no-till practices in our gardens and grow a variety of delicious berries and vegetables.
In our farm kitchen, we make small batches of ferments from the produce we grow and obtain locally. We also bake incredible sourdough bread.
Our chickens are an integral part of our farm adding fertility to our soil and giving us nutritious eggs. We take great pride in what we feed them... cultured local, organic grains, seeds, sprouts, lots of compost, and they always have access to pasture. We look forward to serving you!
